The Kasvaa socks are made of a cotton blend and feature the Tasaraita pattern (even stripes) with the poppy flower of the classic Unikko pattern. As jeans became increasingly popular with both women and men, Annika Rimala wanted to create a collection of cotton jersey garments that would go with jeans. For all denim lovers, regardless of age, size or gender. Thus, Marimekko’s first cotton jersey collection was born. Uniformly striped, an expression of equality. Marimekko’s famous Unikko poppy pattern was created in 1964 at a time when the design house’s collections mainly featured abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to make something interesting out of this organic theme and created a whole series of floral prints. Today, the iconic flower stands for creativity.
