Hardly any other spice has been in greater demand in recent times than smoked paprika. The bright red powder consists of fruits from Vojvodina that have been smoked and dried over oak wood, with a pleasantly sweet taste and only a slight bitterness. The aroma of the smoke is just present enough to support the paprika and not overpower it. Together with onions and garlic, lemon zest, pepper, caraway and marjoram, for example, you can easily make your own goulash seasoning!

Peppers retain their fantastic flavor even when cooked, as the aromas are not volatile, but you should avoid frying and grilling them too much – they will only burn and become bitter and unpalatable. They are also particularly good in chutneys and sauces, spicy spreads, marinades and dips.
