This cubeb pepper comes from the Indonesian island of Java and is a climbing plant that is often grown in the shade of coffee or cocoa trees. Its spiciness is somewhat reminiscent of pepper, although it is dominated by woody, bitter citrus notes. It has a high content of essential oils, which are strongly reminiscent of eucalyptus and mint.
