Details

The coarse crystals of blue salt melt on the palate and initially taste extremely salty, but develop a very pleasant and mild aroma on the finish. We recommend our blue salt as a classic table salt for seasoning by hand. By mortaring or grinding in a spice mill, you can determine the texture and fineness yourself, while retaining the fine shimmer of color.

Interesting facts:
The blue salt of northern Iran was already being mined and traded in the Persian Empire under Alexander the Great. Its unique color and the fact that it is mined by hand make it a rare and sought-after salt.
It gets its unusual blue color from the increased proportion of the mineral sylvite. It normally colors the salt pink or yellow, but a shift in the crystal lattice caused by millions of years of tectonic pressure causes the incident light to be refracted differently, so that the salt shimmers blue. Sylvin is also known as potassium chloride, which is contained in our blue salt at a rate of over 10%, making it very beneficial for the mineral balance.
