Aiayu was founded in 2005 by Danish designer Maria Høgh Heilmann and creates timeless and durable textiles with respect for the environment, the craftspeople and the users of their products. The name Aiayu comes from the indigenous Bolivian language Aymara; the Aymaran word aiayu means “soul”. According to Aiayu’s ideology, aesthetic values and high-quality materials are important in luxury products, but equally important are the origin and production methods as well as the environmental impact. Aiayu believes that taking these values into account is what makes a product truly luxurious.
